The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Show Re-Branding | Graphics Package | Screens Design | Technology

The highly acclaimed Mark Twain Prize for American Humor recognizes individuals who have had an impact on American society in ways similar to the distinguished 19th century novelist, Mark Twain. Awarded annually at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the 2018 honor was given to renowned actor and comedian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Other known celebrities present that night include Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Jerry Seinfield, David Letterman, Tony hale and more. We introduced lush gradients and modern copper tones into the graphics and screens package to rebrand the show’s aesthetic with a brilliantly bold yet, playful twist. Works included an opening title sequence, 3 mid-century inspired screens looks, lower thirds and even a custom-designed revamped official logo for the Mark Twain Prize, featuring an iconic comedic device – the banana peel. In addition to the graphics package, we also created a “keynote” presentation for Kumail Nanjiani and played the roles of Screens Producers overseeing the screens technology.
